More and more internet users are understanding how important it is for them to find security software that allows them to remain invisible to possible intruders. Threats such as spyware, Trojans, viruses, worms and other malware are difficult to avoid because they have become so widespread. To partially prevent these malicious codes from sneaking in you must first secure you computer with a firewall that will notify you of any unauthorized intruders.
Even by setting up your security so that you remain invisible to most intruders, users will be exposed to spyware and viruses by visiting web sites and downloading freeware and shareware. If you computer is invaded by spyware or viruses you must download both anti-virus and anti-spyware software. Technology experts recommend using more than one spyware tool because its threats are so prevalent no one scanning tool can catch all infections. Utilizing two or more anti-spyware tools will help better protect your computer from the consequences of spyware build up.
Each of the security tools necessary to keep your internet surfing safe can be downloaded for free. Numerous anti-virus, anti-spyware and firewall programs can be downloaded for free and most offer equivalent protection to those you purchase.
Because all the tools necessary for security are free, there is no reason users should not take advantage of the safety nets.
Once you have your security tools in place you can run a test through a trustworthy source to ensure that your computer is virtually invisible online and secure from intruders.

Minimal maintenance plan gives you free new software version (however upgrade itself, if it is done by your MBS partner is not free). If you are outside of USA/Canada: Mexico, South America, UK, South Africa, France, Australia, New Zealand you may have different promotion campaigns and might be not required to be on the service contract. In this article we assume that you are US/Canadian client. - Can I get new licenses without being on the service contract? The answer is no we tried to negotiate with MBS on behalf of midsize and large corporate clients, who are so-called orphans, or without support/service plan. Please, understand the rules of ERP application support. It is normal practice when large business ERP requires service plan. Microsoft Business Solutions in turn requires its MBS partners to pass multiple certification and quality assurance (QA) tests
- What is re-enrollment fee? Currently reenrollment fee is 35% of the software price list. From time to time you may catch re-enrollment promotion campaigns, the minimum known was 20% (September/October 2004). If you are on version eEnterprise 6.0 and skipped 4 annual payments (16%) and now in order to upgrade to Great Plains Professional 8.0 you pay 35% (which includes 16% enhancement plan for the next year), then your penalty is just 19% - Id say go ahead and reenroll.
- Great Plains Standard vs. Professional. Great Plains Standard (or former Great Plains Dynamics) has certain limitations: number of users is capped at 10 and number of employees (US Payroll) is capped at 500. Great Plains Standard is available on MSDE and MS SQL Server
- New Modules Addition. The same rule applies you have to be on enhancement program to get additional modules. So, if you need say Fixed Assets module and if you are without support you need to reenroll in order to get FA module reg key.
- Customization Upgrade. If you need Great Plains Dexterity, Modifier/VBA, Continuum, eConnect. SQL Stored procs customization upgrade, you need to find MBS customization partner. As your customization was done by somebody else in the past (who probably is out of business now), we or the partner you select can not guarantee the upgradeability of your custom piece well try our best.
- Reports Upgrade. Good news if you have Crystal Reports, working with Great Plains Dynamics/eEnterprise 6.0 then upgrade should be simple, because table structure didnt change only minor changes were introduced.
- Switching to Great Plains. If you are considering Great Plains to be your ERP, we know successful implementations, customizations in the following industries: aerospace & defense, textile, non-profit, services, recruitment & placement, oil & gas, pharmaceutical, hospital & healthcare, transportations, distributions, logistics & supply chain management, education, government, beverages, jewelry, gold & mining.

During this time Drive Solutions has performed Data Recovery Services for many fortune 500 companies and Government agencies. Drive Solutions Inc has expanded their Data Recovery Services to the public at a very economical price. Drive Solutions, Inc. Specializes in recovery of Notebook and PC hard drives as well as other forms of storage media such as Digital camera memory cards, USB jump drives, CD, DVD, and more. In previous years Data Recovery was far too expensive for an individual to afford. As time and technology have moved forward the cost of the data recovery service has decreased dramatically making it an affordable service for everyone. Years ago you could expect to pay upwards of $3000.00 for the recovery of your vital data. Today the successful recovery of your data can run under $400.00 making this service very affordable for end users. I spoke with the Director of Business Development at Drive Solutions, Bruce Masterson, who said These days we see a lot of our business coming from home computer users that have stored all of their pictures of family, vacations, and all kinds of personal files on their hard drive and nowhere else. We all hear about how important backing up your files is however, not many people think about their hard drive crashing especially at home. Nowadays more and more people store their music files, family photos, contacts, etc... on their home computers. These files usually arent worth $3000.00 to the user however, since prices have dropped for data recovery services more and more end users are utilizing the service. Digital cameras and mobile storage devices such as the Apple IPOD have created a real demand for an affordable data recovery service. Those portable devices take a beating. People dont realize that if their portable device has a hard drive in it- the hard drive has moving parts and these parts can become damaged from shock. Masterson stated. The Folks I spoke with at Drive Solutions, Inc. told me that all hard drives will fail eventually and to always keep my data backed up and to keep my backup files in a different location. After my tour of their 10,000sq ft facility in Chatsworth, Ca, I realized just how many drives they work on every day. Thats a lot of hard drives failing around the globe. When they say to back up your files before trouble strikes- Listen and do it before you have to use a data recovery service. Well be here when you need us but, take action now and avoid our service all together. Thats the last bit of advice I got from Bruce before I left their lab. |

You might be asking if there are free spyware cleaners available why would you want to purchase spyware protection software. The free spyware cleaners are good programs to get rid of spyware viruses you already have on your computer now. But how much of your personal information, passwords and even credit card numbers did these programs send out before they were removed? Also, many spyware programs automatically reinstall themselves even after they are removed. So you have a false sense of security because the hacker designed the spyware program to start right back up again. Free spyware cleaners should be a warning to you and not a permanent solution to solve spyware and adware problems. Spyware protection software is designed to find all of these hidden programs and disable them before they have a chance to work. How many times per week do you run your antivirus protection or anti-spyware or adware programs to ensure that your paranoia about having an infected machine is just that, paranoia? With so many problems in the computer infection world, one cannot really blame themselves for checking up on their system on a routine basis. However, do you ever really think about where all these programs come from because someone out there must be sending them out, they dont just appear through spontaneous generation. This makes one ponder the question as to who is sending these things? There are thousands of spyware, adware, and Trojan horse programs that are running rampant throughout cyber space as you read this article. But if you really think about it, just as war might be considered good for the economy, these computer infestation programs are good for the economy. If you are not sure what I mean, just think about Spybot, Spyware Nuker, Adaware, and countless other detection and removal programs. This is a new sector of the economy that has only sprung up as a result of those programs that can take control of your computer. Just as with the medical industry making billions of dollars per year on not finding cures for AIDS and cancer, because financially these cures would allow them to make less profits each. It seems like information technology companies do not want to rid the world of all the infectious programs that can endanger your PC. The reason for this is that they find profit in the misfortunes of others. The continual emergence of new Trojan or adware makes it necessary for people to spend money for protection. If this sounds familiar that is because it is the same philosophy employed by organized crime. You pay them for protection but they are not going to do anything to ultimately cure each case but just get more money from you after something happens and tell you that it is not going to happen. In short, Spyware is good for the economy because it allows for more money to be reinvested into the market through purchasing new and updated protection programs to keep you computer clean. It makes you put more money back into the economy and allow the software creators of these protection programs to prosper. Who knows, it could be these companies that created some of these programs that you need their software to cure. Just think about it, spyware IS good. Now that you have read that, please read this. If you believe any of that, I have an oceanfront house in Oklahoma that I can sell you at a great price. Spyware, Trojan programs, and adware are nothing but a group of programs put on this planet to annoy us at all times. Most spyware and adware programs offer you free versions of their software that is sufficient enough to monitor your system on a regular basis. Although, there are those that offer a more detailed version at a higher price, most free versions are sufficient. Spyware is not good and these programs help keep it that way. Dont believe the hype! It is relatively expensive and has bunch of importing capabilities, that you might never use and need. Scribe allows you to map objects in source and target, when source is ACT! for example. If you are just realized the need to load data into CRM please research Microsoft CRM import tool and Scribe. Here we will describe other option and possibilities - Master records import you can import via MS CRM integration tool. Tools->Import and select contacts or leads
- Duplication dilemma. In version 1.2 as well as in 3.0 (as far as we know) you do not have duplication check and you can import duplicate leads or contacts.
- MS CRM SDK custom data migration. If data import is critical and you have reasonable budget for the migration you can appeal to MS CRM customization partner who specializes in the complex data import. In MS CRM SDK you can program duplication check, special rules for security settings. We have to stress here, that this is not one thousand dollars project and if you are small company, you should stick to Scribe or native MS CRM import tool
- Large Scale MS CRM implementation. For corporate business security might have top priority and migration should be programmed in MS CRM SDK.
- Some technical tips. Post-call-outs. In MS CRM 3.0 which should be released in earlier 2006 there are so-called pre-call outs (in version 1.2 we have only post-call-outs). Pre-call-out should allow to check for duplication, based on your duplication recognition criteria and cancel record if it is duplicate contact, account or lead

By 2003 that number had climbed to 50%, and the problem had gotten so bad that Congress passed the CAN-SPAM Act of 2003 (Controlling the Assault of Non-Solicited Pornography and Marketing Act) The specific requirements and penalties of that law, (which took effect in 2004) have done little to stem the tide of junk email we all receive. Today, in 2005, the percentage of unsolicited email is at an all time high of 87% (source Wired Magazine July 2005) How can we even stand to check our email? Well I cant. Thats why I pay for a service to protect my entire domain name from all Spam. Thats a great solution for me, but its too expensive for a home or very small business user. How then can you protect yourself? First, there are filtering options in Outlook and Outlook Express, and I encourage you to investigate them further. More details on this are in my article from May of 2000 called Managing your E-mail II here http://pdxtc.com/200005-managingemail2.htm After trying about 6 other programs, I found a free version of some software that I used for a long time called Mailwasher. This program was easily trained and configured to learn all of my preferences, and for free, theres nothing better. However, you I still basically have to check mail twice, once in a clunky web-interface to sift through all the blocked SPAM. I prefer to just check my mail normally, not worrying about a missed message. In 2003, a friend recommended a service called Knowspam. That was a great solution that blocked 100% of all SPAM through a permission based system. A permission based system means that all new senders not on your list, will get a verification email, asking them Are you human? Well, if they are really human, then they take the simple instructed action, and youll get their email, as well as all future mail from them, unless you choose to block them later. Many readers of my column tried Knowspam, and I got dozens of positive comments. That wasnt enough for Knowspam though, because they still went out of business. Well the good news is that theres a replacement for Knowspam. Its called Spam Arrest, and its under $3 a month. It does everything that Knowspam used to do, and then some. Ive now set myself up with an affiliate account and arranged for you try it for free for 30 days. First, you easily upload all of your contacts, and then follow their easy directions to change your system mail settings, and anyone on your list or anyone you ever send mail to is automatically approved. The great news is that this works for up to 5 email accounts, and even works for AOL mail! If you want to see 100% of your spam get blocked, and not be embarrassed to let your kids see your inbox, then visit http://www.pdxtc.com/spamarrest and sign up for your free 30 day trial. | About The Author

Believe it or not, your computer might be infested with spyware, a hidden program (application) that can reveal important information about your computer & internet activities to other individuals and companies. Most of them use the information to understand your online buying behaviour, but no one guarantees that your info can't be stolen or seen by other unauthorized people.
Your privacy is important and should be protected, so pay attention to what programs you download online and what terms you accept. Others are spying your activities and you might not even know.
The BEST way to defend your computer by spyware IS to download and run an Internet anti spyware application that identifies and removes those kind of programs from your hard disk.
NOTE: some spyware elements deny uninstallation unless the adware applications (programs containing banner advertising that contain spyware) are available on your computer.
The solution is to remove the application entirely, unless you really want to keep it for future use.
Here are 3 applications that contain spyware:
1. Alexa / ZBubble (usually is installed from www.alexa.com and www.microsoft.com)
RISK: medium to high
Information collected: web navigation, buying behaviour, passwords, credit cards information.
2. Gator / GAIN (usually is installed by products like Grokster and Morpheus).
RISK: medium
Information collected: web navigation behaviour.
3. Web3000 (NetSonic)
RISK: medium
Information collected: demographical data, cookies.
Below I'm going to present 2 *freeware* applications that you can use to remove such Spyware programs from your computer.
#1 - SpyBot Search & Destroy
PRICE: *free*
LINK: http://spybot.safer-networking.de
SpyBot Search & Destroy can detect adware applications, spyware applications, key loggs, troyan horses, broken links.
#2 - Ad-aware
PRICE: *free* (the basic version)
LINK: http://www.lavasoftusa.com
Ad-aware can detect adware applications and spyware applications.
REMEMBER: most of these tools are not perfect, your computer might still be infected with spyware that can't be detected, however, at least you can be sure that a part of them are eliminated.
